The Salvation of God

Who is Jesus Christ?

It's important we understand what the Bible says about Jesus. Please visit Why is Jesus Important? and find out more about the divine nature of Jesus Christ.

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
Romans 10:9-10 NLT

Our Condition

We have all sinned against God. Ever since Adam and Eve, sin spread through all of us. The result was death (Romans 5:12). We have all at one time in our life turned away from the Lord and lived for ourselves (Colossians 3:7). Living to carry out our sinful pleasures. Our sin has separated us from God (Isaiah 59:2). But we have to come to realize that we have sinned, so we can receive the gift God has for us in Christ.

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.
Romans 3:23-24 NLT

If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.
1 John 1:8 NLT

Galatians 3:22 NLT

The Danger

It's important to know what we are being saved from. Since we have all sinned, we are all headed for destruction. Hell is for the devil and his angels, but we don't have to go there (Matthew 25:41)! God is a righteous person and judge, and cannot let evil go unpunished. God is light and there is no darkness in him (1 John 1:5). But God, who is rich in mercy, wants everybody to come to the knowledge of the truth and repent (1 Timothy 2:4). God sent his Son to save us from this awful place.

For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News?
1 Peter 4:17 NLT

“And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”
